We have been under Mr kaliaperumal for 5 years and can't rate him highly enough. Always listens to concerns and thinks things through thoroughly to make the right decision for the individual. Amazing surgeon, couldn't be more grateful for all he's done for our family.

An extremely professional, courteous and knowledgeable specialist. Gave a very clear explanation of the problem and a comprehensive run through of the procedure required to resolve it. I found his positive attitude really made a difference to my own mental well-being and how I approached the surgery. After a successful operation I received a phone call a week later from Mr Kaliaperumal to check on my recovery and progress. A nice touch. After a year in pain I am truly grateful to Mr Kaliaperumal for getting me back to something near normal. A great surgeon!

Eleven months ago I was diagnosed with a pilocytic astrocytoma and underwent a left parietal craniotomy and resection. I feel very lucky to have Mr Kaliaperumal and his team operate on me. My type of tumour tends to affect juveniles, but fortunately for me Mr Kaliaperumal also works at the Sick Kids so had experience that was relevant for my case. When they were actually operating on me he was able to recognise the exact type he was dealing with and so take the appropriate course of action. We were very glad to hear that he had managed to remove practically all of the tumour. Mr Kaliaperumal was especially compassionate in reassuring my wife through this difficult time. He was always positive and optimistic. Recovering in hospital I would always look forward to his visits and receive encouragement. His optimism continues to encourage me to see further improvements with my recovery. The only constructive feedback I would give is to advise people undergoing such surgery to make a note of your passwords. I couldn't unlock my phone for three weeks until I could recovery my speech enough to explain how I remember my unlock code! Mr Kaliaperumal is an excellent surgeon, both throughout the surgery and my continuing rehabilitation.

I can't speak highly enough of Dr. Kaliaperumal and his team. Dr. Kaliaperumal surgically removed a tumor from my son's brain a couple of years ago. I have had no issues at all with the surgery and my family was very pleased that he and his team carried out the procedure. The surgical procedure was a very challenging and critical and he successfully completed it. He is very knowledgeable, committed, kind and compassionate. I completely trust him and I have no hesitation in recommending Dr. Kaliaperumal to anyone looking for advice/treatment.

Mr Kaliaperumal was first introduced to me a couple of years ago when I was diagnosed with a meningioma brain tumour. The diagnosis came as a huge shock to me - a brain tumour isn't something I imagined would ever happen to me. Mr Kaliaperumal was amazing, he went through the procedure step by step, explained the MRI scans, answered all questions and helped to put both me and my wife at ease. Nothing can prepare you for something like this and I didn't have much time between diagnosis and surgery to process what was happening. However, I felt reassured by Mr Kaliaperumal. He made me feel at ease about things. I was confident that under his care and medical direction I was in more than capable hands. You often read such negative things about the NHS in the media however, my experience makes me feel truly proud of our NHS service. The team at the Western General in Edinburgh are miracle workers. Every single member of staff within the DCN are committed to providing the best possible care and work to such high standards. The nurses, junior doctors, registrars and my consultant couldn't do enough for me to aid my recovery. Mr Kaliaperumal helped explain things to me in layman's terms and checked up on me regularly and also took the time to call my wife and provide her with updates on my progress and discuss a plan moving forward. If you've just been diagnosed with a brain tumour, you're probably overwhelmed by this potentially life changing diagnosis, but rest assured that you are going to receive the best treatment and care from Mr Kaliaperumal and his team. He is a truly amazing consultant and I feel extremely grateful to have him as my consultant.
